IF I WERE A TIME TRAVELER

Would you change your past? Would take a glimpse of your future?

The question has been asked many times. Seldom do I hear people choosing not to change their past. Seldom do I meet people unwilling to see their future. A lot of people regrets the past and wish to change it if they could. A lot of people wants to know their future even before it happens.

Me, I wouldn't.

I don't want to change the past even if I will be given the chance to. I admit, I made mistake in the past. A lot of mistakes that caused pain and changed the course of my life. Sometimes I am tempted to say yes, I'll change everything and correct my mistakes. But I also wonder, if I change my past, will I still be the same person that I am now?

Personally, I don't think I will be the same if my past have been different. If did not commit those mistakes, I will not be strong. If I did not commit those mistakes, I will not learn. Yes, those mistakes caused me a lot of pain but it also taught me a lot of lessons and those lessons made me a better person, or at least I hope I had become better than what I was.

Our characters, personalities are molded from our experiences. We learn to walk slowly after we stumble. We learn the correct answer after we made the mistake. Our past may not be spotless but it made us who we are.

Of the future? I'd rather not know what will happen in the years to come so wouldn't have to worry unnecessarily. I'd rather not know what will happen to me and accept things as they come. Besides, what is life without suspense?

So maybe if I were a time traveler, I'd visit my past but only to look at it, to remind myself of the things that I did and the lessons I learned from it. Its good to look back from time to time and remind ourselves of what we've been through to keep our feet on the ground. The future? It can wait.
